About Us

Our Objectives

  • To promote training, research and interest in Agricultural Economics.
  • To promote the applications of the scientific principles of Agricultural Economics in order to solve agricultural, rural and revelant national problems in Southern Africa.
  • To improve liaison between agricultural economists at regional, national and international levels.
  • To promote the interests of agricultural economists in terms of activities as envisaged in Article 3 of the constitution

Why join AEASA?

AEASA provides members with opportunities to engage in research and policy discussions through events such as the annual AEASA Conference, the F.R. Tomlinson Commemorative Lecture, and webinars. Members become part of a network dedicated to solving food, agricultural, and rural challenges in Southern Africa. Additionally, AEASA offers access to the latest scientific research in Agricultural Economics through the Agrekon journal and the AEASA Newsletter.

AEASA offers three membership categories: Ordinary Membership – For professionals in the private sector, academia, and government who apply agricultural economics principles. Student Membership – For undergraduate and postgraduate students in Agricultural Economics, Economics, or related fields. Honorary Membership – For individuals who have made substantial contributions to AEASA’s activities and have been recognized accordingly.

Ordinary Membership: R500 (basic), R750 (with online Agrekon access), R950 (with hard copy Agrekon). Student Membership: R400 per year. Honorary Membership: Free, with access to Agrekon online. All members receive updates through the AEASA Newsletter and can participate in AEASA events and networking opportunities.
